Third armorial published in the series The European Edition of the Sources for Heraldry and Genealogy conserved in Private Collections after the Florentine and Bolognese ones, this manuscript dates back to the Sixteenth Century, and likely to the years of Doge Francesco Venier (1554-1556), but probably deriving from an older codex, and displays as many as 900 coats of arms of flourishing and extinguished Venetian Patrician Families with interestng manuscript notices about thier origins and deeds.

This work, edited by Niccolo' Orsini De Marzo, is introduced with an essay on the Venetian heraldry, while in the appendix another Late Nineteenth Century Venetian armorial is reproduced, with another 792 coats of arms, including those of families recently added to the Venetian Patriciate in the Eighteeenth Century. The indexes of both these manuscripts complete this book, a real milestone for everyone interested in Venetian history, as well in the history of art.
