Reprint of the work published in 1928 by Giovanni Dolcetti, a scholar of Venetian heraldry and genealogy, which thought of retracing the origins of the Mussolini of Bologna - and thus also of the family of the Duce - to an old patrician family of Venice of the same name, really flourished on the Grand Canal between the XIII and the XVI centuries and elevated to the dignity of palatine counts by the emperor Sigismund in 1434. Only the first part of his work was published anyway, and history has it that it was because of the opposition of Mussolini himself, who wasn't flattered at all by his supposed aristocratic ancestry. This volume deals in effect of the Venetian Mussolini, whose a big and beautiful genealogical plate adorned with the coats of arms of their relations is attached. As pointed out in the introduction, anyway, a consistent chronicle tradition dating back to the XVI century testified of the provenance of the Mussolini of Bologna from Venice, or viceversa.
