This Armorial, compiled by Jacques de Neufforge, was published in Brussels by the Lithographie Royale de Jobard in 1827, at the time when Belgium was still part of the Kingdom of the Low Countries which explains why this important Armorial comprises 693 coats of arms of Dutch and Belgian families - each with their own crest. This book - which came from the library of the counts Henry and François Chandon de Briailles - is particularly interesting as all the coats of arms are finely hand coloured in tempera, instead of being simply sketched in black and white, rendering it more similar to an illuminated codex than to a printed volume. This is a truly unique work, also from an artistic point of view.
